Company profile
CPAC as a group of companies has many years of experience in the field of colour
photo chemistry as well as B&W, medical chemistry, Dental and last but not
least, silver recovery systems for small, medium and large photo labs.
CPAC Europe is a subsidiary of CPAC Inc, Leicester N.Y. and was established as a company in Belgium in December 1989. At the very modern facility in Herentals Belgium CPAC Europe presently produces chemicals for the colour photo industry and a limited amount of chemicals for x-ray and microfilm.
CPAC Europe is located in an industrial area about 35km east of the port of Antwerp, right next to the highway from Antwerp to Germany (Aachen - Köln). We are within 50km from Brussels airport, 200 km from Cologne, 350 km from Paris and 200km from Amsterdam.
CPAC Europe has known a steady growth since 1990 and has completed a building expansion in 1998 that triples the production and warehouse area to 4.320m2. This has tremendously improved the workflow and the efficiency and helped CPAC Europe to further improve product quality.
The present production capacity, in an 8-hour shift, is 6.000.000 litres per year; this corresponds to approximately 400.000 items (complete kits) per 8-hour shift. The fully automated mixing platforms are completely separated. There is one platform of mixers for developers and one platform of mixers for secondary products such as bleaches, fixers and stabilizers. Thanks to the cross training of all the personnel at CPAC Europe a second and, if needed a 3rd shift, be started up any time. This would double or triple the production capacity without major investments. CPAC is using a full automatic, computerised bottling line, which assures very accurate filling of the bottles. The bottle labels are printed on a very sophisticated system, which allows us to print whatever information the customer may require. The present real capacity is 2.500.000 bottles per shift per year.
As CPAC Europe was the newest manufacturer in our industry we could only obtain and increase market share through high quality products at reasonable prices and a good and efficient customer service system . In the 10 years of its existence CPAC Europe has not had any wrong shipments and has only had a few backorders in this period of time. We have never had a situation where a box contained the wrong product. Procedures on mixing, bottling packaging, shipping etc. have assured a high quality and accuracy in every aspect of our operation.
In order to meet or exceed environmental regulations CPAC Europe has taken all measures necessary to reduce and avoid pollution. Practically nothing goes to the drain. Regular controls on the drains from government offices confirm that we are doing the right thing. At the same time we are also regularly taking sample of the drain water to control COD, BOD and pH. This helps us to maintain our image and reputation of a clean manufacturer.
To be and stay competitive in the market, we rely very much on our R&D department that brings out new and improved products at least once or twice a year. One of the newest, patented, innovations from CPAC, is the One-Part developer for RA-4 (TriPhase developer) which we introduced in November 1997. The year before it was the odourless chemistry that shook up the market. In October 1999 we introduced again a revolutionary product, the 1-part bleach fix . We believe that, by working this way, we can stay ahead of our competitors and give our partners (distributors and agents) that extra tool to be and stay competitive . We are now the only manufacturer that has a complete One-part RA-4 chemistry line.
